EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is a unique version of acupuncture that does not use needles. Instead, under the guidance of a therapist, you stimulate well-established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips whilst repeating a phrase connected to your problem. It is sometimes referred to as ‘tapping’, for obvious reasons.
EFT is usually quite gentle and can often lead to substantial relief from a number of problems, such as phobias, physical pain, poor sports performance, etc. with little or no emotional discomfort. EFT used in conjunction with Hypnotherapy or NLP to fix the effect permanently in the sub-conscious appears to be particularly effective, though this is not always necessary.
WHAT CAN EFT BE USED FOR?
Most things can be treated with EFT including:
Phobias – flying, spiders, dogs, cats, lifts, heights, etc.
Stress and anxiety
Weight issues
The list goes on.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A TYPICAL EFT SESSION?
After an initial consultation to discuss the “problem”, your therapist runs through the tapping routine with you, showing which points to tap and how to do it effectively. Using his experience and the information given during the consultation the therapist will tell you what to say as you tap on the various points.
It will almost certainly take several goes at the same problem, tapping on different aspects of it each time.
IS ONE SESSION ENOUGH?
Sometimes, if the problem is long-standing or deep-seated, it may not be cleared in a single session and you will be invited back for further sessions to ensure that the core problem has been addressed. Depending upon your response you may also be asked back for a session under Hypnosis or with NLP.
