Are you stressed?

Stress is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as "a state of affair involving demand on physical or mental energy".

Perhaps an easier to understand definition may be, "Stress is any change to which you must adjust"

Either way excess stress can affect your life dramatically.

Because stress is related to the natural 'fight or flight' response the reaction to stress can include an increase in blood pressure, pulse rate, energy levels, mental activity and muscle strength.

Stress can come from external or internal sources.

It may come from the environment, or from the body and/or the thoughts and emotions. it can be caused by situations at work, home, in a relationship, death of a relation or friend, divorce, etc.

If you suffer from any of the symptoms below, you may be over stressed.

Symptoms of Over Stress;

How is hypnotherapy used for stress management?

Stress is often initiated by a single event or episode, you can learn to recognise your stress 'triggers' and when you do you can to introduce new, alternate behaviour at the first signs of the onset of stress, hence halting, at an early stage, the piling up of these triggers that all add up to produce high stress levels.

Hypnosis helps you to get into a deeply relaxed state, relieving tension and relaxing both your mind and your body, hence helping to prevent health problems associated with chronic stress.

1. Hypnosis can also help you make changes to your lifestyle that can reduce the amount of stress you encounter. For instance, it can help you to maintain an exercise program, feel more confident when dealing with others and with life in general, etc.

2. During your visits to the therapist you will be taught self-hypnosis which will enable you to relax when you need to, and see previously stressful situations in perspective, you learn how to reprogram your thoughts and actions while in self hypnosis to help you develop new behaviour. You will also be able to better control your emotions allowing you to experience a greater sense of peace and serenity no matter what circumstances in which you may find yourself

Additionally hypnosis can also be used to effectively help overcome any negative habits you may have developed to cope with stress, like smoking, excess drinking or compulsive eating.
